​​​​​​Growth through acquisitions is a key strategy of many South African and global corporates. The subsequent value creation or destruction arising from acquisitions will also be covered for performance measurement. The 2-day workshop involves delegates using and building Excel models on their laptops to enhance their knowledge and experience in analysing acquisitions.

After completing the programme, you should be able to:

  • Value a target company including any synergies;

  • Model the potential financial impact of the acquisition on the group;

  • Prepare and compile financial information required by boards of directors and/or shareholders in order to evaluate acquisitions; and

  • ​Develop techniques to identify and analyse potential value creation through mergers & acquisitions


Who should attend?

This programme is designed for CEO's, company directors, audit committee members, financial managers, business development managers, financial analysts, corporate financiers, investment analysts, asset managers and entrepreneurs. Delegates should have some experience in the use of Excel. In addition, you should have some theoretical knowledge of acquisitions or some practical experience in doing deals. ​

Faculty

Greg Beech is a CA (SA) and an independent merger and acquisition advisory consultant, having operated in the industry for over 24 years. Greg also teaches part-time at GIBS on mergers and acquisitions and regularly presents on valuations, behavioural finance, finance for non-financial managers and financial modelling to corporate audiences. He co-authored a book titled, Valuations, mergers & acquisitions, which was published by Oxford UniversityPress in 2015.​
