University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS’) Master of Business Administration (MBA) has once again been ranked highly by US-based CEO Magazine. GIBS was awarded Tier One status in the magazine’s latest Global MBA Rankings, clinching 12th spot, making it the only South African business school on the ranking. This is the second year that GIBS is ranked.

This year, CEO Magazine reached out to business schools in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and the BRICS, collecting data from 180 schools in 27 countries. Key performance indicators include; quality of faculty, international diversity, class size, accreditation, faculty to student ratio, price, international exposure, work experience, professional development, gender parity and delivery methods. The ranking covers the general MBA, Executive MBA (EMBA) and Online MBA programmes.

Interim-Dean of GIBS, Dr Morris Mthombeni said, “We are delighted that CEO Magazine continues to recognise GIBS for its offering. With a global Tier One position and honour of being the only South African business school to be featured in this ranking, GIBS remains committed to its mission of providing high-quality business and management education, we will continue to be a world-class African business school with a global perspective.”

CEO Magazine is the latest publication to recognise GIBS commitment to quality education. The aim of the publication is to find schools that combine outstanding quality with a high return on investment.

“We have not been deterred from delivering on our mandate to our students by the Covid-19 pandemic; these results represent the relentless effort that our faculty and staff put into this world-class programme,” concluded Mthombeni.
