Of all the budget speeches in South Africa’s democratic history, none has been as anticipated as the 2016 Budget Speech. Business in South Africa is facing a number of challenges: a low-growing (almost stagnant) economy; a weak currency as well as the threat of being downgraded to “junk status” by the ratings agencies; to name a few.
On Wednesday, 24 February as Minister Pravin Gordhan delivers his address – James Durno, a visual communication specialist, will be illustrating the important aspects of the speech as they relate to business, on a wall at the GIBS campus.
The illustration will be streamed live on the GIBS YouTube channel (link to follow) and our faculty members will be tweeting their interpretations and views.
Will Minister Gordhan’s address provide the much needed shot in the arm for the economy or will it be business as usual? Give us your take by tweeting your comments, using the hashtag #GIBSbudgetspeech and tagging @GIBS_SA on Twitter.
