Third Thursdays with LEADSA and GIBS

Presenting Third Thursdays: A Dialogue Series for Change

Food security is one of the greatest challenges that has faced and continues to face the country. It is estimated that over 7 million people are currently food insecure. This, coupled with the fact that the majority of South African households have a weak purchasing power, are greatly dependent on social grants, and government has a poor support network for disaster management systems during droughts and floods among other challenges, create for a worrisome picture.

LEADSA and The Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) Centre for Leadership and Dialogue are hosting a series of critical conversations called the Third Thursday Series. The conversations will be around a particular theme and for July, the focus will be on food security and more specifically: What is business' role in ensuring food security in South Africa?
