The Africa/ China Masterclass

Africa-China Masterclass – Strategic Imperatives and Opportunities for South African and African Businesses

Africa, a continent of opportunity, hungry for investment.

China, a keen investor but complex.

This session will look at the strategic imperatives and opportunities for South African and African business. In focus will be questions such as ‘how to succeed with exports’, ‘successful market entry’, ‘critical success factors in strategic sourcing’ or ‘how to attract Chinese capital’.

With more than 10,000 Chinese-owned firms operating in Africa there are mixed stories depending who you ask. Some emphasise unfair working conditions with little knowledge transfer and geo-political control. While others say globalisation would not have happened without China, resulting in infrastructure development worth billions and greater strategic partnerships. In 2016 the investment figure for infrastructure stood at $36 billion and this will continue to grow with the ambitious projects like “The Belt and Road Initiative”.

The challenge, however, is to ensure that the alliance is mutually beneficial.

In this masterclass, Kobus van der Wath, Founder and Group Managing Director of Axis Group International and The Beijing Axis, cuts through the complexity and will provide a strategic yet practical framework for those that are grappling with the many issues and that are looking to engage with China.
