One of South Africa's best-known business journalists and broadcasters, Chris Gibbons will guide your team through the basics of media training.

He will share how to craft stories and messages. He will also present case studies about communicators who got it wrong and explain their mistakes. He will also examine companies and organisations that performed well under pressure.

The Masterclass will also focus on communicating during a crisis. You need to prepare well in advance. Spokesmen need to be appointed and trained. Stories and messages need to be crafted, checked with the relevant departments and rehearsed. Possible questions and scenarios need to be thought about well ahead of delivery. During a full-blown crisis, there is absolutely no chance of doing any kind of planning or preparation once the disaster has struck.

In this modern, social-media led world, events can overwhelm a communications team with frightening speed. How should you try to control such an event and what plans do you need to have in place? Also, what role is played by the 'sound bite' and how do you develop such things?

Delegates will get the opportunity to form communication teams, appoint and train a spokesperson for each team, and then interact as that spokesperson goes "live" in front of the camera.

This is a full-day masterclass and is a must for both communications professionals and executives who want to understand the nuts and bolts of good communication with the media. It is also vital preparation for when the crisis strikes.

We will be using interactive training techniques, with live broadcast-quality cameras and audio equipment throughout the Workshop.
