Human Sygma is the core interrelationship between employee engagement, client engagement and organisation's financial performance. It is the process of improving and reducing variability in the engagement levels through employees and clients. While managers simultaneously manage toward many outcomes, they focus on increasing today's revenue.  However, many do not pay attention to the immediate needs of employees and the financial performance that occurs from productivity improvements which is totally predicated not on processes but people. 

Alan will share insights on how HR can improve employee engagement, which leads to enhanced productivity level and ultimately improve business performance.

Alan Hilburg, President and CEO, Hilburg Associates

Alan is a widely recognised as a leading thinker in employee engagement strategies that elevate productivity and brand endurance.  Alan has authored two NY Times best-selling books on leadership, received an Academy Award nomination for the world's first environmental film and a number of awards in marketing, employee engagement successes and institutional branding.

Hilburg Associates focuses on reversing failures in employee engagement to generate enhanced customer trust, improved productivity and increased revenue and profits. He counsels senior HR professionals on how to turn HR from a cost center into a profit center.

He applies his proprietary culture driven approach to non-conventional brand solutions. He is a confidant, executive coach and advisor to a range of senior luminaries around the world including country presidents, CEOs, leading entrepreneurs, sports and entertainment celebrities and religious leaders.  

The London Times called Alan, "one of the world's leading brand architects."  Advertising Age said of Alan, "he brings a new horizon to the emotional branding narrative."  The Los Angeles Times wrote, "Hilburg is the first person a CEO should call when their brand is under attack."

Vincent Hofmann, Co-Founder, Inquisition Media​

Inquisition is a design firm which enhances its clients' ability to solve problems in an increasingly complex world. Inquisition's multi-disciplinary team draws from research, systems thinking and organisational design practices to deliver consulting and training offerings which enhance an organisation's capabilities and help them to thrive.

Vincent applies sociological theory to design, systems design and brings theory to life in talks and his writing. He was named one of Mail and Guardian's 300 Young South Africans to take to lunch. Vincent is also the co-founder of Signl an interactive entertainment company which explores human-machine interaction notably: interactive installations, information radiators, game design, and interactive art exhibitions.

Dr Ngao Motsei, GIBS Faculty

Dr Ngao Motsei is a Partner at Heidrick and Struggles’ Johannesburg office and a member of the global Leadership Consulting Practice. Ngao focuses mainly on leadership consulting and advisory work, servicing all industry sectors. She joined Heidrick and Struggles from Leadership Emporium, a boutique leadership consultancy she founded.

Ngao is also a member of Faculty at the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS). Prior to founding Leadership Emporium, Ngao served in various executive and senior management positions in both the public and private sector in South Africa. She has designed and implemented long-term organisational development, change and leadership interventions for the public and private sector, both locally and internationally. International career highlights include being part of the organisational restructuring of Deloitte & Touche in Toronto, Canada; assisting in a business unit re-engineering for Phillips in Budapest, Hungary, and being part of a Team Development and Effectiveness intervention at the University Hospital in Singapore. Ngao’s international experience was part of her Organisational Development training through the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland’s International Organisations & Systems Development Programme.

Ngao holds a PhD (Organisational Behaviour) from the University of Pretoria; a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Cornell University, and a B Soc. Sc. (Hons) degree in Social Planning and Administration from the University of Cape Town. Ngao also holds organisational development and executive development certificates from the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland and INSEAD.​
