Statistics show that youth in SA lack the prerequisite skills to fully contribute in the economic growth and development of our country.
It is widely
known that basic education in South Africa is in a
crisis, with poor standards, high drop off rates and as many as 80% of schools
being labelled as ‘dysfunctional’. Worse still, 55% of the million young people
entering the job market each year don’t have a matric. This is a dire picture
when it comes to finding future employment for them. Youth unemployment is a
ticking time bomb. Statistics show that the youth in SA lack the prerequisite
skills to fully contribute in the economic growth and development of our
country. If this problem is not corrected how do we secure a successful,
sustainable future?
