Using Technology to Drive the Financial Revolution

This forum will unpack global market trend data and examine how competition, and financially excluded and underserved market segments are being impacted by the changes unfolding in the financial system.

The most significant transformative force in financial services today is without a doubt technology. We are seeing an unprecedented rate of change in the global financial services sector.

The millennial consumer, with rapidly changing needs and demands, represents a dramatically changing consumer for banks. Social media, mobile, data analytics and cloud-based banking, are all issues which both incumbent financial services providers and newer entrants need to contend with in a rapidly changing ecosystem. However, the impact of technology on the provisioning of financial services has been far from uniform across economies.

Dr. Robert Wardrop - Academic Programme Director

Robert is the director of the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance and senior faculty of Management Practice at the Cambridge Judge Business School, where he teaches in both the MBA and Master of Finance programmes. He is a member of the Steering Committee for the Cambridge Big Data Strategic Research Initiative, which brings together researchers from across the University of Cambridge to address issues around law, ethics, and economics. He has held several board directorships and advisory roles with private and governmental organisations, including the International Technology Advisory Panel for the Monetary Authority.
