Gail will share the inspiring personal story of how she started as a Latin teacher and mother of four (including triplets) to become one of the world's most prominent business people, as well as give practical insight into the valuable lessons she's learned during her leadership and life journey about the importance of leading with courage, putting people first, backing yourself, and placing your family above all things.

About the Speaker:

Gail holds a number of international roles: Member of the Group of Thirty, The Global Board of Advisors to the US Council on Foreign Relations, Member of the PLuS Alliance Advisory Board and the McKinsey Advisory Council, Senior Global Adviser to UBS and Director of Woolworths Holdings in South Africa. In addition, she is a Director of Australian Philanthropic Services, an Adjunct Professor at the University of New South Wales and Ambassador for Women's Empowerment for CARE Australia.

Born in Pretoria, Gail has a Bachelor of Arts and Higher Diploma of Education from the University of Cape Town, and a Master of Business Administration (with Distinction) from the University of the Witwatersrand. She spent the first half of her 35-year banking career at Nedbank Group before moving with her family to Australia. Since retiring as CEO of Westpac in February 2015, Gail returns to South Africa several times a year and most recently established 'The Gail Kelly Global Leaders Scholarship' between her alma mater, the University of Cape Town, and the University of New South Wales.
