Improve your corporate governance, risk management, regulation, management structures and Basel III.

Gain the latest thinking on Bank Board leadership in the fast-changing global economy, the evolving financial sector, the increasingly difficult area of Boardroom interaction, and stakeholder management.

This programme aims to inform executive and non-executive Board members regarding the latest thinking on Board leadership, and the necessary knowledge and skills in the increasingly difficult area of Boardroom interaction, leadership and decision-making. Board members will also benefit from this programme by gaining knowledge on how to manage Board member conflict of interests, deal with ethics and disputes in the boardroom, and manage the (often conflicting) demands of stakeholders.

The programme will review case studies, market data and short simulation exercises to explore the relevant material and to investigate the application and relevance of the material. This includes group and individual participation, debate and discussion in addition to formal lecturing as means to develop understanding of the programme material. The programme will also introduce industry thought leaders to this programme as guest speakers.

No formal education qualifications are required.

  • Introduction to risk management responsibilities for NED’s;
  • An overview of market risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, interest rate risk, operational risk and compliance risks;
  • Evaluating risk management effectiveness: what to expect from leadership – key considerations when overseeing culture and conducting risk programmes;
  • What to expect from information technology, enterprise risk, compliance and internal audit functions; and
  • Transitioning to IFRS 9.
