Case studies
Case Study: Global organisation in the Natural Resource industry Our client is represented in over 15 countries around the world and employs over 160,000 people. Since 2003 we have delivered a customised leadership development programme for senior managers. Over 400 people have attended the programme in its various forms.
The programme content has been substantially reviewed every year since its birth in order to address issues of strategic importance to the organisation.
In 2009 the programme was updated to reflect the following key strategic priorities:
- Corporate social responsibility and sustainable development
- Unification of different business units into one integrated organisation
- Optimisation of return on assets and delivering higher value from operations
- Talent management and development of global leaders
- Positioning of action learning projects as the platform on which the programme is built
The most radical change was to relocate a one-week module from London to South America in order to support the strategic drivers listed above.
Senior leaders, including the Group CEO, attend every programme to talk about business strategy and seek feedback. It is rewarding to see that some of these EXCO level leaders attended this same programme earlier in their careers and can recall and quantify the benefits.
"Working with GIBS has always been a partnership where our sole objective is to create a great learning experience which has a positive impact. We co-create the programme using the best resources from the Business school together with clear direction from the organisation and its leaders. The easiest part of my job is attracting CEOs as speakers and this is a strong indication of the programme's credibility and impact."
